NextGen North America
From hour-long to week-long workshops at various institutions, we engage groups of young people in the topic of integrated sustainability. Our multi-day events are hosted at an ecovillage, where participants are surrounded by living examples of another way to be. Attendees spend time volunteering with the ecovillage to gain hands-on experience with communal living. We have a discussion panels with attending Ecovillage Ambassadors, building networks of connection and future opportunities. And at every event, we try to build a lasting community within the group of participants itself.
As a youth-run and directed organization we highly value the capabilities of young people. For this reason we wish to empower this age group, the generation that may experience the impacts of environmental degradation most severely, and simultaneously will be called upon to address our most grievous social, economic, and cultural problems. We are the generation that is needed to start implementing solutions; this generation must be highly educated and motivated to do so. NextGEN sees its role as connecting young people with solutions and concrete models for change, such as the ecovillage.
